Moving to new name

Mon Jul 30, 2007, 4:04 AM
For a few good reasons I will be gradually moving my images to a new user name. It is absolutely nothing to do with anyone at DA. I'll send messages to those who have me on watch letting them know my new user name. If anyone else wants to know the new user name, send a message here. This account will be around for a while yet, but without a gallery. It's a pain, but it has to be done.

Just a cute wee mousie exploring the vastness of DA-sphere in her

I highly enjoyed your dialog on the Artistic Nudes newsletter . . . well put indeed.
:icongwynfor:
Why, thank you. I must be getting old and grumpy. ;)
:icongwynfor:
Thank you. I'm trying to put up a variety of my work: Old and new, landscapes, architecture, figure, sports, portraiture, abstract, artistic and photojournalistic. It's just so super to have rediscovered my creative spark. I think my head is going to explode from all the ideas. It's enlivening.

Thanks heaps for the watch!

Your gallery is extremely interesting. I love the variety. I'm looking forward to more. Thanks.

Thank you. I like variety. I guess I'm just a photographer, in that I enjoy photographing anything that appeals to my eye. If there are themes, or motifs, in what I photograph I would say that what I find beautiful/sensual and juxtaposition would feature. It's not just beauty or juxtaposition of the subject, but also of the context in which the subject appears and the idea behind the photograph. For me it is primarily a medium of communication, so the idea comes first, then I try to create the images that communicate that idea, whether it be inherent contradictions in an urbanscape, or trying to capture the stillness and beauty of the Victorian Highlands in winter.

I confess to being a tad out of practice, as I have set my cameras aside for many years, but hopefully the (wisdom... cough) of increased years will make up for the enthusiasm of youth.

What an interesting way you have of describing the "how" of your art. I think I see a strong argument in your adding the importance of the context to the beauty or the juxtaposition of the subject. So many photographers here at DA could take a lesson from you in that regard. You communicate very well, and I'll be sure to keep watching your expanding gallery. Thanks.
